Letters and thoughts for Malachi
You're going to be here aaaaaany day now little love! And everyone is so excited to meet you. Your daddy and I love you so much, and so do a million other people. No one's love will ever compare to the love that your dad and I feel though. No one on Earth anyway <3
I always knew you'd be early, but I have to admit, I had started doubting it lately. Doctor Palitz originally said 10/17, but today he said you definitely won't take that long! Your birthday will be here by next week! I can't believe its here. Finally! I've known about you for almost 35 weeks! Being pregnant is one of the hardest things to do not only physically, but also because it requires me to have A LOT of patience! Oh my goodness! I love how excited your daddy is about it too. He looks at my tummy and tells me how big and strong you are. I tell him that I know, because I can feel you ;) You have some strong movements, sweet boy. You're gonna be big and strong, just like dad!
9/27
Come out already, baby! I love being with you all day, everyday...but I'd love even more to be able to hold you and kiss you all over. I wonder what you'll look like. I want to go to Womb With A View, but I guess I can practice a little bit of patience here. ;)
Daddy and I like to watch you move because it makes my belly look funny :) Sometimes it makes me feel sick to my stomach, but it's still great to know that you're an active little thing. If only you'd be less active while I'm trying to sleep...especially the mornings after nights that I have a glass of water before bed.
Still can't believe how much I love you, and I know your daddy does too. I don't think he loves my belly, so the way he looks at it must be because you're in it! He's going to be so great with you. I can't wait to take pictures of you two!
8/29
Just so you know, you have the best daddy you could EVER have. He's got the biggest heart and loves us both SO so so much.
7/19
You're getting so big, and in turn, so am I! Daddy is taking such good care of both of us though. He always tries to make me comfy and wishes he could hold you. He lifts and holds my belly up from time to time, which actually helps.
You LOVE to move whenever he talks to you. Sometimes, he'll talk to you when I have to go pee, and he thinks it's funny because it makes me have to go even more. You definitely know exactly where to jump, don't you little man?! What a smarty you are.
Huck loves to lay on my belly. He has loved it ever since we found out about you. He's gonna love having you around! Get ready for lots of sniffing. Good thing he's not much of a licker :p
Your great-grandpa Jack asks how we are both feeling every time we see him. I can't wait for you to meet him! It's bedtime for us now, Little Love. I love you and can't wait to hold you.
5/16
Two things have been on my mind lately...well waaaay more than just two. But these are the two that I think about most often.
1) When you are older, I am going to kick you to see how you like it! Not really, but kid, you hurt sometimes!
2) I hope you obey me better when you're born. Because right now, when I ask you to LIGHTLY kick/move around, you don't. And when I ask you to stop so I can fall asleep, you don't. One of these days, I'm going to ask you to kick so daddy can feel you, and you should do it. Pleeeeease!!! He's missing out <3
5/3
Sweet Boy,
I woke up yesterday morning and I was really excited to see where you were resting in my tummy! But you were hiding and I couldn't find you anywhere!
I hope you aren't that good at hiding when you're older, otherwise I will be that annoying woman going throughout stores yelling "Malachi!!! Where are you, Malachi?!?!" Mommy embarrasses easily, so please don't do that to me!! :)
We love you so much. Everyday we talk about how much we wish that time would go by faster so we can meet you already! Next week we get to see you again at the regular doctors office, and soon we'll get to see an even better picture of you at the special place that takes even better pictures of perfect babies like you!
You truly are so innocent and perfect. You're still being created. You're still being "knitted in my womb." You haven't been born into our world of sin yet, and I think that is so precious.
We love you and can't wait to meet you.
I have a womb...
Superbowl was on Sunday. I played with Rhyden and Jax a lot, while others joked that pretty soon, I'd have one of my own to play with. Little did they know, I had a feeling that I had one in me already. So after the game, Ryan and I drove back to Modesto, stopped at CVS first, and bought an Early Pregnancy Test.Took one that night, and it said positive! Well...I thought so, anyway. It wasn't very clear, but I had some pretty intense butterflies when I called Ryan in to look at it! I know the tests are most accurate in the morning when you first wake up, so I saved the other test for the next morning. That one gave the same result so I decided to go to Kaiser to take a test there. I had no idea that once you take the test, you have to wait 24 hours!! It was awful!
I called only 12 hours later, hoping they had a result. No luck. So I decided to accept the fact that I'd have to wait another 12 hours. Sitting on the couch less than two hours after I hung up the phone, and I got an email with my test results. Positive!!!
We immediately went to my parents house. We had already been brainstorming ways to tell people, so we were pretty excited. Watch the video to see our announcements...explaining it just isn't as great :p
Next we told Ryan's family, and then our friends. And then it became public knowledge! We are so excited. Just can't wait for our first appointment so we can find out exactly how pregnant I am! I'm convinced I'm showing already, but no one else agrees. Knowing my brain, they're probably right :p
Gender Reveal Party
We're at 15 weeks this morning. Ever since I found out I was pregnant, I have felt like I was showing. Actually, I thought I was showing before I took the test--that's why I took it! But now at 15 weeks, I can definitely see a change. I wake up in the morning and can see where he is. Two days ago he was on my right, and the past two mornings he's been on my left.
It's always a struggle to get out of bed because I know that as soon as I eat my breakfast, I won't be able to see him as well. I like being able to see where he is, but I can't wait until I can feel him moving around. And then towards the end, when I can see his foot or hand push on my tummy. I know I'll cry!
I think that one of these iPhone geniuses needs to develop an app that will allow me to use my phone as an ultrasound so I can see Malachi whenever I want to because as soon as I leave the doctor each time, I miss seeing him. Any geniuses out there?
Still can't believe we're having a boy! Our gender reveal party was really fun. I had just as much fun cleaning, planning and prepping for it as I did during the actual party!

Registry Fun
Glad I wasn't doing that on my own though; it was very overwhelming! The wedding registry was fun because I knew what we had and what we needed/wanted. I've been alive for almost 23 years, I know what I need to have in order to survive and be happy.
Baby registry though...not the same at all! There were waaay too many options for me--I am that person who takes FOREVER to make decisions, regardless of how important they are. This is my first baby, and I want him to have the best of the best with everything. Ryan does too, but he's a quicker decision maker than I am. I'd pick up an item to look at it and then to compare it with other options, but Ryan would think I was holding it up for him to scan :p I was wearing uncomfortable jeans and boots that were starting to make my feet hurt, so yes...I was that girl sitting on the floor, reading about all of the different breast pump options. Having never considered breast-feeding until marrying Ryan (I grew up around formula-fed babies, and Ryan did not) I felt like I was learning a new language. Nursing pads, nipple cream, storage bottles, pumps. Not as simple as just mixing up some warm formula!
Everything else was pretty straight-forward...cute bibs, towels, spoons, fancy bathtub, bottles and nipples. But now I'm home, researching the best types of cribs, monitors, humidifiers. Reading the reviews of things that we registered for, and then deleting anything with more than one bad review (thats an exaggeration, but not too far off from the truth). And starting an Amazon Mom account to get 20% off of diapers. Was considering stocking up on diapers so we wouldn't have to spend as much when Malachi is born. But I don't want to buy a ton of diapers without knowing if Malachi is sensitive to certain brands.
Oh and some excited news...for the past couple weeks, I've thought that I could feel slight movements, and I still think I did. But last wednesday, I felt one distinct push while one of my classes was leaping over their teddy bears. I think Malachi wanted to show off for them and show how strong and fast he can run too! Then yesterday, I was laying down, tapping my fingers on my tummy, talking to Ryan (who was playing on his phone, not listening lol) when I felt a few pushes right where Malachi was. I stopped mid-sentence and said, "I just felt him for sure!" and Ryan did not respond at all. No, I take that back. He chuckled and said "oh yea?..." the way he does when he is either not listening or half listening lol. I didn't really pay attention to it though, I just kept my hands on Malachi and felt him move around. It made me giggle, which is when Ryan asked what was funny. I said I can feel him. And he got really excited lol. That's how I know how wasn't listening earlier in the conversation :p Malachi must have figured out where he wanted to be though because he stopped moving. It was awesome though :) I'm excited to feel him again <3

Total weight gain: 25-27?How big is baby: Around 6 lbs, I think. I can't seem to remember how big he was at the last appointment...
Maternity clothes: Yep. I wore a new one today and got a couple compliments :) And I bought some clearance nighties at kohls to wear while I'm at the hospital. They're so soft!
Stretch marks: I can barely see my body at all, how should I know?!
Sleep: Fall asleep around 4:30, wake up at 9. Fall asleep again at 11, wake up at 12. Work. And do it all again!

Movement: Not often but still significantly.
Belly Button in or out: Depends on how I'm sitting/standing/laying.

Wedding rings on or off: On! Mine and grandma's! Mine has felt tight a couple times when I get too hot, but it's not stuck on there quite yet! :)
Happy or moody: Happy! I am more comfortable lately. Except when he pushes up really high. And when I try to get off the couch lol. I grunt more than ever! I'm sure it's attractive.
What I miss: I miss fitting into my clothes comfortably. But I know I will again soon so it's not a big deal at all. I am way more excited about my little love than I miss my clothes.
36 weeks
How far along: 36 weeks
How big is baby: Around 6 lbs, I suppose!
Total weight gain: When I went to the Dr last week, I had lost a pound. But they had a new electronic scale, not the kind where they move the knobby thing until it's balanced. Anyway, around 25 still. How big is baby: Around 6 lbs, I suppose!
Maternity clothes: Yep. I bought size 9 jean shorts the other day and I'm really sad I won't be able to wear them in a few weeks. I'd give them away, but I do plan on being pregnant again so I'll hold on to them a while longer still.
Stretch marks: None!
Sleep: Picking costumes for December AND June before my little love is due to arrive=very little sleep. But I don't feel too tired.
Best moment of the week: Our maternity pictures of course. And finding out the absolutely EVERYTHING looks healthy and perfect in my belly.
Food aversions: Nada
Symptoms: Back pain, rib pain, nesting, Braxton Hicks Same ole, same ole. I've been peeing A LOT more lately. I hope he's moving his way down. When I flip back and forth between last week's picture and this week's picture he looks lower, but if I remember correctly...he was pushing REALLY hard up by my ribs when I took last weeks picture. He definitely isn't ready yet.
Movement: It must be as hard for him to find a comfy position as it is for his mama because he sure migrates a lot. I still really dislike when he gets the hiccups. Seems he is always positioned just right on my bladder to give me a scare when he first gets them :p
Belly Button in or out: Still in enough for me to say it's still in! The top and bottom now take turns poking out. Ryan felt it the other day and said it was really soft. Great...anothe reason for him to poke my belly button lol.
What I’m looking forward to: Weekly visits start next week! Almost full term, I can't believe it.
Wedding rings on or off: On! Mine and grandma's! Mine has felt tight a couple times when I get too hot, but it's not stuck on there quite yet! :)
Happy or moody: Happy! Well usually. I was moody when I got off work today because I was soooo hungry and I had to go to the store on my way home to get stuff for tomorrow's breakfast and lunch. But after I fed myself, and Ryan helped out by doing his dishes, I was less annoyed with the world lol.
What I miss: I don't miss much. I'm not expected to do anything. Strangers offer to hold my gallons of milk while I wait in line, and stop in the parking lot to help me load groceries, and pick up things when I drop them. It's nice! For the longest time I turned down all offers of help because I didn't need it. I still don't need it, but I just don't have the desire to do it if someone else is willing lol. I'm happy with how active I am still able to be.

Maternity clothes: Yep. Anything comfy at this point! I refuse to spend money on maternity clothes at this point.
Stretch marks: None!
Sleep: With work starting up again, I'm tired so it's easier to fall asleep. When I do though, it's restless and annoying lol.
Best moment of the week: Nuts made it to the championship series! But I think the real highlights are when I'm reading to him in his rocking chair at night. Soaking up the little bit of special mommy and Malachi time that is left before he's here to share with you all :p
Food aversions: Nothing new.
Symptoms: Back pain, rib pain, nesting, Braxton Hicks...oh and the big basketball that keeps inflating under my shirt.
Movement: Big time the past couple days! Not as often but when he does move, he really moves! I was resting my fries on my belly at the game tonight and was worried he was goin to kick them off! He does that to my phone all the time :p
Belly Button in or out: Still in enough for me to say it's still in! The top is still poking out, but the "inside" of my belly button is flat across. If that makes any sense lol.
What I’m looking forward to: Taking our maternity pictures this weekend!! <3
Wedding rings on or off: On! Mine and grandma's! In church on Sunday, it was getting tight though. I was worried I'd have to take it off soon. I must have just been hot because since then, it has fit just like normal.
Happy or moody: Happy!
What I miss: Besides feeling comfortable, I'm not sure what I miss. I'm kinda liking pregnancy right now :) Even though it is uncomfortable lol.

Sleep: Some nights its impossible, other nights it's only horrible :p
Best moment of the week: Hearing that Malachi is healthy, a good size and that his head is down now. That is great news :)
Food aversions: No...but lately, certain smells have made my stomach turn. And thoughts of certain foods. I was looking through coupons and ads today and couldn't finish lol.
Symptoms: I think I've started feeling Braxton Hicks contractions the past couple days. Other than that, just basic uncomfort, tiredness and nesting. I went on a cleaning rage a couple days ago. And Ryan has been amazing at helping me keep the sink clean of dishes so it doesn't pile up at all.
Movement: Yep. I really don't like when he gets the hiccups though. It's as bad as me having the hiccups, except holding my breath doesn't get rid of them.
Belly Button in or out: I can't believe it's still somewhat in.

Total weight gain: um, 20 lbs? Not sure. Unfortunately, I'll find that out tomorrow too Palitz told me last time I can only gain 10 more by the end of the pregnancy--doubt it'll stay that low! I'm eating ice cream as I type.
Maternity clothes: Yes, but I still prefer walking around the house in dance shorts and a sports bra. Less pressure on my tummy
Stretch marks: None! I now have cocoa scrub, two types of lotion and now oil. Thanks Jo Anna!

Sleep: Ugh, I wish. Kept myself busy til 4 am making a new comforter for our bedroom and then doing dishes. When I tried to sleep, my back got too tense. Finally found a comfy position on the couch at 7-8ish.
Best moment of the week: Well even though Malachi was hiding behind his hands and the umbilical cord the entire time, I enjoyed our time at Womb With a View a few days ago. We got the DVD from both visits, so now I can watch it whenever I miss seeing him, and I can squeeze the puppy with his precious recorded heartbeat.
Food aversions: Nope! Just can stand the thought of chinese food. Ick. All that goop...gross!
Symptoms: Back pain, occasional rib pain, lack of strength due to no abs :( and lots of rumblies in my tummy! Both from his squirming and hunger
Movement: Yep, I love it!
Belly Button in or out: In, barely! The top is starting to poke out a bit, though.

Stretch marks: None! Still drowning myself in two types of cocoa lotion and cocoa soap.
Sleep: Much better now that I have a pregnancy pillow.
Best moment of the week: NOT the glucose test. Ick!
Food cravings: No cravings!
Food aversions: Lemonade because of the glucose test. Hopefully that passes soon.
Symptoms: Back and rib pain like crazy! I'm getting used to it as far as knowing which positions to sit/stand/stretch to feel better. And the pillow helps me feel rejuvenated when I wake up so the first few hours of everyday feel great!
Movement: Constantly. And even though it hurts sometimes, I wouldn't have it any other way.
Gender: Sweet little baby boy...my little love.
Belly Button in or out: Barely in still! From my point of view (looking down) I can see that the top of my belly button is starting to poke out, but not from the inside yet.

How big is baby: umm freaking huge?! does that count as a measurement? No? Okay, well 14.5 in and as of my appt last week, he's OVER two pounds. Baby app says avg right now is less than 2 lbs. I have a big healthy boy :)
Total weight gain: I finally looked at the appointment tracker they give me at every appointment. It also shows my weight each week. I've gained about 15 pounds, and Palitz said I can only gain 10 more. Ha. We'll see about that, Doctor.
Maternity clothes: Yes, and I live in jazz pants.

Best moment of the week: Palitz appointment, getting my pillow (LOVE IT) and getting a prenatal massage. Oh and a pedicure, thanks to the gift certificate from the Martin family! :)
Food cravings: I still don't crave anything more than I did pre-pregnancy. I guess I've always gotten cravings, so nothing out of the ordinary. Today was chocolate milk and otter pops.
Food aversions: Ryan keeps mentioning chinese food (ugh) and just the thought of it makes me gag.

Symptoms: Back and rib pain like crazy! I'm getting used to it as far as knowing which positions to sit/stand/stretch to feel better. And the pillow helps me feel rejuvenated when I wake up so the first few hours of everyday feel great!
Movement: Yes and I woke up the other morning to little kicks on my ribs. Totally not looking forward to those kicks getting stronger lol. I had my phone on my tummy today and Ryan got to watch it move around while Malachi rolled around.
Gender: Sweet little baby boy...my little love.
Belly Button in or out: Barely in still! From my point of view (looking down) I can see that the top of my belly button is starting to poke out, but not from the inside yet.
What I’m looking forward to: My next Womb With a View appointment! Couple more weeks still.
Happy or moody: Yep!
What I miss: Being comfortable. I used to be comfy no matter what. Not so much anymore! I still love being pregnant though. And even though I'll love holding him, I know I'll miss being pregnant when he's born. Something about ALWAYS having him with me and knowing he's safe in me...won't be the same when he's in the world to share with everyone else!

Sleep: I fall asleep really easily on the couch, not so much in bed.
Best moment of the week: Best moments of the past few weeks since I've been a slacker....surviving recital, Malachi dancing with me on stage, finally being on "summer break." Which basically just means working at home all day and night instead of working at home all day and teaching at night. Food cravings: It's always hard to find something to eat because nothing sounds good. I've had lots of chocolate pudding lately though. Yumm!
Food aversions: Nope, still just as picky as ever :p
Symptoms: My back has hurt non-stop. Ryan's given me a couple nice massages though :)
Movement: Yesss and he's moving closer to my ribs. He jumps on my bladder sometimes. When it's full it doesn't bother me much, but when it's empty it is extremely uncomfortable.
Gender: Sweet little baby boy...my little love.
Belly Button in or out: In for now, surprisingly! There's a ring around my belly button so I can see where the edge of my belly button used to be. So crazy how much my stomach has stretched!
What I’m looking forward to: My next Dr appointments! Regular visit with Palitz next week that Ryan gets to go to :) And I can make another Womb With a View appointment within a few weeks too.

What I miss: Being able to stand, sit, walk, lay down, sleep, etc, WITHOUT pain. Can't believe I have 15 more weeks left; I can't imagine back pain any worse than this.

Total weight gain: hmmm, I don't know. Maybe I should get a scale...
Maternity clothes: I got some for my birthday :) Super cute Giants stuff from Lara.
Stretch marks: None! I'm pretty much drowning in cocoa butter these days with how fast Malachi is growing
Sleep: I miss it! I get tired pretty early in the night, but with recital in two weeks, I've got a bit to do :)

Sleep: Yes, please.
Best moment of the week: It has been a very difficult week, so that's hard to say.

Total weight gain: hmmm, I don't know. Maybe I should get a scale...

Maternity clothes: DEFINITELY need the belly band for my jeans. And for mother's day, I got two maternity shirts that really show off My Little Love. :)
Stretch marks: None! Still hoping this lotion stuff works...
Sleep: Falling asleep is easy most nights. I have been getting horrible cramps that make it difficult to get comfortable. Everything in me is moving around to make space for baby, so my body is working hard. Sometimes Malachi moves around so much during these cramps....I hope he isn't as uncomfortable as I am during this time.
Best moment of the week: I've been feeling him move around so much and the feeling I get is still just as great. Last night, Ryan got to feel too :)

Sleep: It's very easy to fall asleep, but this time of the year at the studio gets REALLY busy, so I've been staying up late a lot.
Best moment of the week: I felt him for sure over the weekend! :) Ever since then, I've felt little movements throughout the day
Food cravings: Hmm, no cravings!

How far along: 15 weeks
How big is baby: 4 inches; the size of an apple
Total weight gain: 6 lbs
Maternity clothes: Haven't bought any for myself yet, but Jo Anna gave me a really cute shirt :)
Stretch marks: None! I'm hoping this lotion stuff works...
Sleep: It's very easy to fall asleep, but this time of the year at the studio gets REALLY busy, so I've been staying up late a lot.
Best moment of the week: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday...waking up and being able to see where he is! As soon as I eat, it's harder to see him so getting out of bed takes about an hour. I enjoy the precious time with him. We listen to K-love, I rub my belly, and take pictures of him.
Food cravings: I haven't had many cravings for the past few weeks. Things sound good, but that's the normal fatty inside of me :p In the beginning, I was craving bell peppers, cucumbers and tomatoes. The few days though, I've ventured back to the ice cream!
Food aversions: Nothing, thanks goodness. Week 4, I made a really good dinner, with honey as a main ingredient. I COULD NOT get myself to eat it, or wash the dish. Lucky for me, Ryan offered to do both for me :p
Symptoms: I'm tired, but that's because of my whacked out sleep schedule. I pee A LOT and often. And that's about it!
Movement: I don't think so. I know he's moving around a lot, because he would not stay still at the last ultrasound. But I've always felt constant movement in my tummy, even pre-pregnancy. I think that when it's him, I'll feel the difference. I wish so badly that I could feel him though!
Gender: Boy :)

What I’m looking forward to: Our next appointment and getting to do a 3D/4D ultrasound!
Wedding rings on or off: On!
Happy or moody: Happy most of the time...slightly more easily provoked than usual, but I work with kids all day. What do you expect?!
What I miss: Right now, it's late and I have eaten a lot of food. About to get some ice cream actually! So I miss being able to see his bump. I've dealt with end of the day food babies a majority of my life; I want to see my real baby bump again!
